BJ didn't sleep one night and God helped him develop this tree. It represents what the BSM is about; what we're after.
It begins with INTERCESSION represented by the soil. This is the foundation of growth and the way we beckon God's heart to move on the campus. We desire to have 24/7 prayer. We desire to partner with other organizations to pray together - once a semester we go out on campus with a big white tent to pray for 72 hours, having people switch out in 1 hour slots.
The roots grow deep through small groups, campus activities and retreats. Our roots help nourish and sustain the ministry and they are:
1) word-centered
2) prayer-centered
3) spirit-led
4) personal reflection
5) accountability
6) immersion or "all-in baptism"
7) community: walking together and large group meeting (worship night)
8) living radically holy
9) rediscovering faith in Christ
When these roots are implemented in our life, TRANSFORMATION is produced through becoming:
1) mature adults
2) radically obedient to Christ
3) servant leaders
4) world-changers
As our community is infiltrated with men and women claiming these titles over their lives, the Holy Spirit produces His fruits - Galatians 5:22 (love, joy, peace, paitence, kindness, goodness, faithfulness and self-control)
Description of the fruit produced:
1) The skin: COMPASSION. 2 Corinthians 3:13. We will be known as compassionate and loving people who reflect Christ.
2) The flesh: SHALOM. 2 Corinthians 5:12-21. We will be model a life of rest and contentment.
3) The seed: MISSIONAL. Matthew 28. We will be after the Lord's heart to make disciples of all nations.
Please pray for our community and the staff, as leaders, to be of one accord as we go after this vision!
