| 72 HOURS of PRAYER During the Lenten Season, we encouraged our students to participate in a fast based on Isaiah 58. Isaiah 58:6-8 "Is this not the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and provide the poor wanderer with shelter- when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? Then your light with break forth like the dawn, and your healing will quickly appear; then your righteousness will go before you and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard. Then you will call, and the Lord will answer, you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I." Using these verses as a foundation, for 40 days we committed to: 1) Serving someone sacrificially every day 2) Sharing the testimony of our life and relationship with Jesus with someone every day 3) Take out something in our lives that could be replaced with spending time with Jesus. At the end of the fast, we began a 3 day prayer tent that sat outside the Library. Many lives were drastically changed! |
